Laura Sklenicka


I started taking Pilates classes and private sessions at the Body Balance Institute when my family and I relocated to the Jacksonville area nearly two years ago. After participating as a competitive gymnast and diver growing-up, and after having my two daughters I was suffering from chronic hip and back pain. I knew I needed to find an exercise regime that would not just improve my overall strength and flexibility, but do it in a way that was safe for my body. I definitely found my answer in Pilates. My pain has decreased tremendously. Most days I have no pain at all. It is so nice to live pain-free again, and enjoy running around and playing with my girls, going on hikes, and taking long bike rides. It sounds so rudimentary, especially from someone who was so active growing-up, but when I was in pain, even those activities were hard or even impossible at times.

The staff at the Body Balance Institute has been wonderful over the last two years. Everyone is very knowledgeable, respectful, and encouraging. I have enjoyed every class I have taken. Each instructor is so unique and talented, I never get bored because they make the classes interesting and challenging in their own special way.

It has been an inspiring, fun and rewarding journey for me so far. I encourage everyone to try Pilates at Body Balance Institute. You will be amazed at how great you feel.
