Carrie Walters was born and raised in Michigan and spent most of her time involved in fitness related activities. Through her study of movement as a dancer, she became captivated by the human body and had a strong desire to further her knowledge in that area of study.
In 2000, she began her undergraduate studies at Aquinas College in Michigan. Her deep compassion for people initially led her to apply to the nursing program, but different circumstances led her transfer to HPER. Her course work opened her eyes to the intricate beauty of muscles and their movement. She became so fascinated by the magnificence of the body that she began to pursue a career in fitness.
In 2004, Carrie graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Recreation Administration. She also obtained numerous fitness certifications through AFPA, ACSM, PIA and PTC. Carrie has been a personal trainer for different settings since 2002, teaching group fitness and mat Pilates classes since 2004, and instructing equipment Pilates since 2006. With more than 10 years experience training clients of all ages and fitness levels, she continues to customize health and wellness plans that combine strength training, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, Pilates and nutrition in her spare time.
Carrie moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 2007 to work as a Master Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer. Until December of 2015 she owned a private training company where she offered private personal training and Pilates sessions out of her in-home studio. Sporadically, she still holds group exercise classes and trains clients. Though she loves encouraging others toward healthier lives, she feels she is being called in a new direction. Carrie has been pursuing a new way of changing lives – through Physical Education and Nursing.
As a Christian, Carrie approaches living from a different angle; her drive and passion comes from wanting to see those around her be at their best, not only for themselves, but for God. Carrie’s heart is to see good health in the lives of those around her so that they can be good stewards of all that God has given them. It is because of this that Carrie continually refines her knowledge so she can help equip others with the tools to carry out a long and healthy life.
Outside of work, she enjoys exercising, volunteering at her church, fellowshipping with friends and playing with her dog Gracie (Chow/Shepherd mix).
